Job description

We're looking for a proactive person to help support our learning environment beginning Semester 1 2023. Experience monitoring student attendance, producing absence reports for senior leaders and liaising with parents/carers to verify student absences would be highly regarded. The role is temporary part time (0.27 FTE) for 2 days per week, 5 hours each day and would suit someone with a solutions focused outlook towards helping our students achieve their very best academic outcomes.

About the school

Morayfield State School is situated on Morayfield Road, in the Moreton Regional Shire, one of the fastest growing areas in the state. It was established in 1873, and was the first school in the Caboolture District. The original building is still on-site. Currently we have about 530 students enrolled from Prep to Year 6. The school caters for mainly urban students from a wide variety of backgrounds. Our school vision, is to provide a safe, respectful learning community achieving success through positive relationships through our motto of ‘Aim High'. Our school purpose, is to work in partnership with students, parents and the wider community to ensure that all students receive a quality education appropriate to their individual needs in a safe and supportive learning environment. Relationships are the cornerstone of everything that we do at Morayfield State School. By working together staff and parents/caregivers ensure that our children achieve their very best.

About the role

You will have responsibility for, but not limited to:

  • Generate daily reports on absenteeism, advise parents/carers and teachers, and document relevant information for input into the school engagement process.
  • Generate a ‘Daily Attendance Report' every morning and provide to all teaching staff and deputy principals, and advise teachers of amendments to attendance records due to late notification.
  • Collect and coordinate data relating to student engagement, follow up students who are chronically absent, monitor student programs, and provide information to teachers and school leaders. Liaise with the Student Support Officer, Head of Special Education Program, and Guidance Officer, to address issues relating to students experiencing problems that prevent their engagement at school.
  • Maintain a database listing students that are independent students, students residing with carers (guardian kinship care/child safety officers), students where there are legal orders against the parents/guardians, or other issues that may impact on student attendance and engagement.
In accordance with the Working with Children (Risk Management and Screening) Act 2000, a person is prohibited from working in regulated child-related employment unless the person holds a current Working with Children Check clearance (blue card) issued by Blue Card Services.
