The incumbent will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining robust service continuity and disaster recovery strategies and plans in alignment with ITIL framework principles. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of IT service continuity and DR best practices, with experience in designing and testing recovery procedures to minimize service disruptions and ensure business continuity. This role requires excellent analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams to safeguard critical IT services and assets.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain comprehensive service continuity and disaster recovery plans, policies, and procedures in alignment with ITIL best practices and organizational requirements.

  • Conduct risk assessments and business impact analyses to identify critical IT services, assets, and dependencies, and prioritize them for inclusion in the service continuity and DR plans.

  • Define recovery objectives, timeframes, and resource requirements for IT services and systems to ensure timely restoration in the event of a disruption or disaster.

  • Collaborate with IT infrastructure, application, and business continuity teams to develop and implement resilient architecture designs, redundancy measures, and failover mechanisms to minimize single points of failure.

  • Coordinate the regular testing and validation of service continuity and DR plans through tabletop exercises, simulations, and full-scale drills to assess readiness and identify areas for improvement.

  • Maintain documentation of service continuity and DR procedures, configurations, and recovery steps, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and accessibility for relevant stakeholders.

  • Establish communication protocols and escalation procedures to facilitate timely response and coordination during service disruptions and DR incidents.

  • Monitor and analyze service continuity and DR metrics, including recovery time objectives (RTOs) and recovery point objectives (RPOs), to measure effectiveness and identify opportunities for enhancement.

  • Provide training, guidance, and support to IT teams and stakeholders on service continuity and DR processes, tools, and best practices.

  • Stay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and regulatory requirements related to service continuity and disaster recovery planning.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in information technology, computer science, or a related field.

  • ITIL Foundation certification or higher, with specialized certifications in ITIL Service Continuity Management and ITIL Disaster Recovery preferred.

  • Minimum of 6 years of experience in IT service management, with a focus on service continuity and disaster recovery planning and implementation.

  • Strong understanding of service continuity and DR principles, methodologies, and best practices within an ITIL framework.

  • Experience with service continuity and DR tools and technologies, such as backup and recovery solutions, replication technologies, and high availability architectures.

  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and risk management skills, with the ability to assess and mitigate potential impacts of service disruptions and disasters.

  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders at all levels.

  • Experience in project management and coordination of cross-functional teams for service continuity and DR initiatives.

  • Knowledge of regulatory compliance requirements, industry standards, and frameworks related to service continuity and disaster recovery (e.g., ISO 22301, NIST SP 800-34) is advantageous.

Due to the secure nature of the role, Australian citizens with a federal government security clearance will be preferred.
