Hoppers Crossing Secondary College opened in 1984 and is a single campus, co-educational college with an enrolment of approximately 1,500 students. Situated in an urban growth corridor, approximately 20 minutes west of Melbourne, we welcome students from Years 7 to 12, from Hoppers Crossing and the surrounding district.
The College places great importance on developing innovative and challenging educational programs, through which young people recognise the value of growth through learning. Academic rigour is valued at all stages of learning.

Our students are guided throughout their chosen pathway of VCE, VCAL or VET studies and are prepared for post-secondary options, including tertiary entry and further training or employment.
A diverse range of innovative educational, co-curricular and enrichment programs are offered across Years 7 to 12.
These programs include the Estancia High School Exchange Program, Chinese Overseas Learning Experience, Italian Language Immersion Program, Wakakirri Competition, Inter-School Sports, Year 7 and 10 Scholarship Programs, Student Representative Council, Youth Parliament, High Resolves Student Leadership and Work Experience Programs.
Additionally, Year 11 and 12 Enhancement Studies make it possible to incorporate TAFE certificates and University studies within the VCE program as a result of strong partnerships with a range of tertiary institutions.
The College prioritises ICT across the curriculum with the inclusion of: interactive whiteboards or media projectors in every classroom, Apple Mac laboratories and a 1:1 Netbook Program.
These facilities are aimed toward preparing students with the skills required for them to take their place as 21st century learners and citizens.
Our College grounds are immaculately presented and maintained, providing our students with a positive learning environment.
Our students are also able to enjoy upgraded facilities including plexi-paved basketball and tennis courts in addition to our $2 million state-of-the-art Science Centre.

Performs and/or supervises tasks that are carried out in accordance with guidelines, accepted practice and school policy. This may include the supervision and coordination of other education support class staff within the work area or educational program. Supervision and coordination would be limited to ensuring routine tasks are performed to required standards. Input into identifying training needs and development of education support class staff within the work area or educational program becomes an important feature at range 2.
Specialised support to achieve specific outcomes is a feature of range 2. Typically this will involve accountability for a single function, (e.g. ensuring data is properly maintained) or the operation of a work area (e.g. managing the day to day operation of a school office) under the direction of the principal or another senior manager.
Provides support to teachers and students that is beyond the routine support provided at education support class Level 1, range 1. Within an educational program assists teachers with the coordination of the support function, such as directing/organising the work of other support staff or providing a specialist support role.
Undertakes medical intervention support tasks or other specialised student/teacher support roles that require specific training that must be updated from time to time. The role is for a specific purpose for which there will be direct accountability as opposed to support roles that are carried out by a range of staff performing routine tasks under direction.
Performs technical tasks that require a sound knowledge of basic technical and/or scientific principles that are used to develop and adapt work methods and make judgements where there are clear guidelines and limited options. Routine technical support in libraries, science and information technology laboratories would be typical examples.
An education support class position supports the educational services being provided to students, but must not include duties of teaching as defined in clause 2.6.1 of the Education and Training Reform Act 2006 (Vic) or its successor. Supervision of students cannot be required except where it is an integral part of the employee's position or involves supervision of students individually or in small groups, in controlled circumstances, where the responsibility for students remains clearly with a teacher.

- · Manage the school settings and security features in the Compass database in order to give staff members appropriate access to the College reporting system
- · Liaise with the Compass and Assistant Principal Responsible for Reporting to ensure the school computer network provides access to staff to use Compass allowing easy achievement of reporting timelines
- · Manage and complete all procedures associated with the setup of the database for each semester, including building the academic cycles, creating subjects and classes, adding and removing staff members and enrolling students into classes
- · Manage all assessment items, marking schemes, reporting tags and calculations within each subject in the Compass database in order for staff to accurately report relevant information
- · Create a report run on a 5 weekly basis and manage the report creation process every 5 weeks.
- · Print and arrange mail out of the end of Semester Reports each semester.
- · Create, manipulate and manage all templates required for use within the reporting printing process
- · Liaise with the Principal team to establish the semester reporting timeline and prior to printing and publishing reports, organise cross checking of reported data within each sub school
- · Liaise with Faculty Directors and KLA leaders to ensure all relevant course and assessment information is placed on to the system and provide relevant data to KLA Leaders, Curriculum Committee and SCC
- · Liaise with Curriculum Managers in order to obtain accurate information for all Victorian Curriculum domains and dimensions required for the reporting process
- · Ensure all new staff are provided with user manuals and have received professional development on the use of Compass and the College reporting process
- · Communicate all reporting instructions and timelines to staff in order to meet reporting deadlines
- · Build and run analysis from Compass to manipulate data and provide sub schools with a variety of student information
- · Contact staff members with missing data and establish a new timeline in order to achieve the report printing deadline
- · Manage report production and release student progress reports on a 5 weekly basis on Compass
- · Communicate with Compass with regard to new College reporting requirements and discuss costs and timelines associated with any relevant changes
- · Communicate with the Principal Team and offer solutions to reporting problems as and when they arise
- · Attend regular training sessions with Compass to develop necessary skills required to manage the College reporting process
- · Export and produce XML files required by the DET from the COMPASS reporting database
- · Communicate with parents regarding reporting issues and access to student reports
- · Export and manipulate data from Compass in an Excel spreadsheet to compare and find the students who received a score of over 90% in any assessment item during that weekset.
- · Manually create, print and send letters to student¿s parent/guardian regarding 90% achievement.
- · Create a spreadsheet at the end of every report run for Sub-Schools, showing At Risk Students and students who received over 80% in any assessment item.
- · Distribute data for parents log in and Pin numbers to access the Parent/Teacher interview on line booking system
- · Oversee the setup and running of Parent/Teacher Nights along with the Assistant Principal Responsible for Reporting.
- · Train Student Chaperones, delegates duties and support Student Chaperones for Parent/Teacher Nights with support from Reports Assistant Principal.
- · Manage the Reward and Recognition System at the end of each report weekset. This includes the uploading of data and the production of certificates and reports for the allocation of Reward and Recognition Pins.
- · Complete other assigned tasks from Assistant Principal Responsible for Reporting day to day ¿ generally data manipulation.
- · Collect CRT computers and folders at the end of the school day
- Cover for Daily Organiser in event of absence.
- · Check voicemail and emails from staff regarding absences or changes to the day
- · Enter all teacher absences into the Daily Org Package
- · Arrange for CRT cover or use staff extras to cover classes
- · Make note of all extras used in an Excel Spreadsheet
- · Greet and manage the CRTs as they arrive, providing a Laptop, timetable and Folder with School information
- · Create and distribute the Daily Bulletin on Compass and hard copy by 8.30am
- · Log any CRT cover into the CRT Spreadsheet
- · Check Daily Org emails and answer Daily Org calls throughout the day making necessary adjustments to the daily bulletin when needed.
