Job description

Job Description

The impact of ESG-related factors continues to grow, and companies vary significantly in their readiness to address them, making it more critical than ever for investors to scrutinise the data in mergers and acquisitions (M&A) targets. ESG due diligence continues to rise and becoming fundamental in investment decision-making. To respond to this need, KPMG’s dedicated ESG Due Diligence team within its Transaction Services business continues to grow and is looking for a new Senior Consultant/executive to join the team. The establishment of this dedicated ESG Due Diligence team focused on the deal environment presents an exciting career opportunity, both in terms of professional development and potential for real-world impact. This deals-focused role will be an integral part of a market-leading firm-wide ESG team focused on one of the defining issues of our time and directly supported by KPMG's Australian Board and the Executive team.

Your Opportunity

As part of a dedicated ESG transaction team, you will be considering aspects on deals relating to Climate Risk, Decarbonisation Strategy and ESG related considerations by:

  • Actively involved in the delivery of ESG due diligence engagements, including qualitative and quantitative analysis as well as writing reports and conducting management interviews.
  • Meet regulatory, investor and stakeholder demands/ expectations.
  • Ensure the ‘target’ business is positioned to address those risks and also capture the value upside opportunities from ESG.
  • Analyse and assess the range of mitigation and adaptation strategies available to address ESG risks and value creation opportunities (including the adoption of net zero strategies, carbon market participation and transition planning).
  • Embed the ESG risk, strategy, targets and governance into financial reporting frameworks, in line with market and investor expectations.

How are you extraordinary?

  • You thrive in a fast-paced environment and understand the nature of deals.
  • You want to innovate and provide a different value-added perspective to a deal.
  • You are an avid learner with a deep passion for ESG. You are curious, keen to collaborate, learn from others, and stay abreast of research and thought leadership in ESG.
  • You actively seek out opportunities for growth, are comfortable challenging the status quo, and enjoy getting out of your comfort zone.
  • You are able to prepare high-quality client-ready deliverables and present to the senior leadership teams for review.

Your Experience

At KPMG, we believe diversity of thought, background and experience strengthens relationships and delivers meaningful benefits to our people, our clients, and communities. To be considered for this opportunity, your qualifications, skills & experience could include:

  • Experience in Deals, ESG, consulting, or strategy roles.
  • Strong report writing experience with the ability to distil complex content.
  • Proven track of record managing multiple time critical projects.
  • Ability to extract ESG insights from information at pace and scale.
  • Demonstrated experience in presenting with impact to leadership groups both internally and externally.
