Estimator - Civil Engineer

The Role:

The purpose of the Estimator - Civil Engineer, is to: 

• Review and evaluate cost estimates. 
• Communicate with trade partners and team members regarding new and current projects. 
• Prepare estimates and purchase orders in detail for all products. 
• Ensure timely completion of estimates. 
• Understand scope of work to bid. 
• Manage bid pricing from all vendors. 
• Prepare cost analysis. 
• Establish and maintain working relationships with vendors and subcontractors. 

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare estimates and quotations for civil/concrete construction projects and support the achievement of project outcomes and organisational objectives. 
• Establish and maintain stakeholder relationships through effective communication, negotiation, and issues management to engage stakeholders and ensure project deliverables are met. 
• Monitor and evaluate all aspects of project cost reporting / forecasting, including risk and contingency management, and address project cost issues, assess project financial progress and effectiveness, and assist in achieving project outcomes. 
• Undertake research and formulate recommendations to support evidence-based project planning and financial decision making. 
• Provide advice and information to project managers on emerging project financial issues and to support project development and delivery in line with established plans, budgets, timeframes, policy objectives and other project and priorities.
• Assist in development of payment claims and invoices for various project teams. 

Requirements for the role: 

• 3+ years’ experience in civil construction estimating.
• Bachelor’s Degree - Civil Engineering or related field (preferred).
• Able to read architectural plans and develop cost estimates. 
• Strong understanding of civil/concrete construction processes.
• Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, pronamics or benchmark estimating software. 
• Ability to multi-task and meet strict deadlines.
