Due to continued growth, Skill Tiling is looking for an experienced Estimator/Contract Administrator to assist us in our head office, which located in Clayton, who can hit the ground running. You will be working with a great team of people who are energetic and dedicated to improving efficiencies for the benefit of the company and its customers.
About the role
Estimating:
- Take-off tiling and waterproofing work using estimating software.
- Liaise with suppliers and obtain budget pricing for tender submissions.
Procurement:
- Prepare trade letting schedule for all subcontractors and suppliers.
- Review and understand project material quantities and budgets.
- Review and understand tender quotations for all subcontractors and suppliers.
- Prepare and submit subcontractor and supplier comparisons for Project Managers and Directors approval.
- Review and check measure all material quantities and waste calculations to ensure accurate ordering from subcontractors and suppliers.
- Prepare material purchase orders for suppliers and subcontractor agreements.
- Track material delivery progress for projects and organise staged deliveries as required.
Negotiation:
- Let material orders on or under budget.
- Communicate on phone or in person to establish a relationship with subcontractors and suppliers.
- Prepare and be prepared for supplier and builder meetings as required.
Project Management:
- Gain knowledge of subcontract conditions regarding scope of works, programme, extension of time, progress claim, variations and handover requirements and assist Project Managers and Directors as required.
- Manage suppliers and deliveries to ensure they are compliant with builder’s site requirements.
- Manage RFI’s and sample approvals.
Skills and Qualifications
- Qualification in construction, civil engineering and/or related discipline.
- Excellent Microsoft excel skills.
- Knowledge of construction techniques, building materials, standards and equipment.
- Understanding construction methodology and programming.
- Ability to read, analyse and interpret construction documents.
- Good work ethic, problem solving skills and time management of tasks.
- Good communication skills, both oral and written.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Quick learner with desire to progress skills.
