Event Experience Director - Big Bash Leagues

ABOUT THE ROLE

This is an exciting time for the Big Bash Leagues as we look to recruit a new role - Event Experience Director - Big Bash Leagues. This is an amazing role for a person who loves creating innovative event solutions that are tailored to fans whilst bringing to life our amazing BBL and WBBL brands.

Furthermore, this role is about emotion and how we want our customers to feel when they attend or watch our Big Bash events.

The Event Experience Director will champion the strategic development and delivery of the Big Bash Events Experience program to ensure we WOW our customers. A genuine partner and trusted advisor of the Clubs who can lead and influence the evolution of League and Club Events to integrate our brand and our customer at the centre of decision making. Reporting to the Head of Business Operations you'll be responsible for:

Event Creative Strategy

- Develop and lead a strategic and integrated Event experience program featuring professional, innovative, and high-quality Events (both game day and non-game day Events), to ensure we deliver amazing experiences for kids and families

- Implement a 3-5-year horizon on the evolution of our Event Experience Strategy to ensure we have an entrepreneurial and innovative mindset that continues to position the Big Bash Leagues as a best-in-class Event Experience and exceeds our customers' expectations

Clubs

- Objective is to have 8 strong clubs relating to Event and Fan experience. You will partner with each Club to drive system-wide improvement to raise our standards and benchmarks

- Work in partnership with each Big Bash Club to develop a specific Events strategy that connects to the broader League Event strategy but considers each Club's brand, personality, stadium, and customer. This strategy should then function as a decision-making tool for all elements of a Club's match days and other Events

Innovation

- Connect with industry experts and partners to ensure the Big Bash Leagues and Clubs are exposed to the best innovation and opportunities regarding Event experience and technology

- Frequently showcase best in class Event experiences, innovation, and technology to Clubs

- Maintain relationships with vendors, stadiums, and sport agencies both in Australia and across the globe to ensure we are always positioned at the forefront of opportunities

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

- 10+ years' experience in Major sports or other Event experience

- Relevant tertiary qualifications: Business, Sports Administration (Bachelor or Masters degree)

- Strategic mindset with experience in creative Event concept with visible results on increasing Event attendance or fan attendee experience satisfaction

- Ability to both communicate and influence key stakeholders to ensure that our customers come first

- Proven experience in achieving maximum budgets to then efficiently deliver a fan experience strategy that drives increases in attendance

- Ability to manage stakeholder relationships

- Proven management experience of agencies and large contracts

- Understanding of the sports and entertainment arena

- Ability to delegate and lead a team of varied functional areas across a business to deliver a project

- Drive to create and deliver best practice systems and Event experiences and to motivate others to do the same

- Highly personable and customer service focused

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
