Event Permits Officer

  • Permanent full-time
  • Salary commencing at $94,996 annum plus 11% superannuation (commensurate with experience)
  • Support the capacity of the community and the organisation to plan and deliver events.

The Opportunity 

We have an opportunity for an events or arts qualified candidate who will act as a central point of contact for the community and within Council to support both community and commercial event permits and processes. You will work in alignment with Council’s Arts and Culture strategy Igniting Creativity in Moonee Valley 23-27 by enabling Council to increase the amount and variety of events held in the City of Moonee Valley. Responsibilities

  • Manage administration of event permit application fees, bonds and ongoing review of fee structure. 
  • Development and review of the event permit application process and procedures and continually improving on creating a seamless customer service experience.
  • Establish and maintain an internal network of key event permit stakeholders to support evaluation and specialist advice for event permit applications and compliance.
  • Collaborate and build effective relationships with relevant internal teams, community groups, and other external stakeholders. 
  • Be a key member of a small, cross-functional team member that works under the guidance of the Head of Visual and Public Art. 

Skills & Experience

  • Degree in Event Management, Arts Management, or a related discipline together with some experience in event delivery. 
  • Demonstrated experience in the planning and delivery of events and activations with a strong working knowledge of event logistics, risk management, budgets and regulations. 
  • Demonstrated experience in the planning, promotion and delivery of events and arts and cultural programs within a local government environment.
  • Excellent project management skills in coordinating activities and projects within set budgets, goals and objectives. 
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to provide advice and guidance to event applicants and facilitate working productively with all stakeholders.

  1. Degree in Event Management, Arts Management, or a related discipline, together with some experience in event delivery and/or event permitting. 
  2. An understanding of the regulatory environment associated with the production of public events.
  3. Strong attention to detail to review applications thoroughly, identify potential issues and facilitate accurate and timely processing.
  4. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to provide advice and guidance to event applicants and facilitate working productively with all stakeholders.
  5. Excellent organisational skills to manage multiple permit applications simultaneously, maintain accurate records and meet deadlines consistently.
  6. Ability to assess potential risks associated with proposed events and advise on appropriate mitigation strategies.
