Excavator Operator

We are a marine construction company based on the Gold Coast. We provide construction and maintenance services throughout the waterways of SE Qld. 

 We are looking for an employee looking to settle into a close knit team. We need an experienced Excavator Operator (small machines- 3.5-8t-) to join our team.  The work is over the waterways of Bribie, Newport Waters (Redcliffe) and Redlands. We have several projects on the go and are looking to place our new team member immediately . The job involves all team members to labour and get off machines to help in projects- so operator needs to be fit and healthy and be someone who enjoys this sort of work. We have 3 teams of 2 working on sites in South East Qld. 

The variety each day is guaranteed. Definitely not boring or same thing each day! Working on the water has some amazing positives! Our team love it! If you love problem solving and facing new adventures each day- then come and join us and the dolphins each day.

• Operators generally work 40-50h a week.
• 4 weeks holiday, 10 days sick/compassionate leave
• Superannuation
• Overtime rates and holiday loadings 

We only work Mon- Fri. Any weekend work is on voluntary basis and very rarely do we take this work unless it is a vessel salvage , fireworks or an emergency. We value our family and home time and so we respect yours too.

 $35-$40 an hour  Based on a 50h week indicative annual earnings will be $95000 -$110000plus Super

Scope of employment includes: 

• Work is over water / around tidal water / on a barge deck (confined work area.) generally dawn to dusk.
• Must be fit and able to labour when required.
• Skills in final trim, rock armouring, screw piering, auguring, work with hammer and grab.
• We can not accept beginner operators. Over water is only for experienced operators - please do not apply if you are not a confident operator with at least 2 years behind the levers.
• Most work is Gold Coast but some projects further afield for a few weeks at a time...project to project.

The successful applicant requires:

• White card (after 2009)
• Excavator ticket
• Skid steer ticket
• Own reliable transport and open drivers licence
• MR/HR/MC licence 
• Must be capable and willing to do machine maintenance
• Dogman ticket an advantage
• Experience with concreting, basic power tools, chainsaw, concrete saw, generator, compressors, an major advantage.
• Ability to read site plans

Personal attributes we are looking for:

• Non smoker preferred (no smoking on vessels, ramps or sites)
• Must be confident swimmer - non swimmers need not apply.
• Clean and tidy worker who takes pride in his work and his work environment
• Need a fast , safe learner who is steady on feet.
• Keen and willing to jump in and get the job done
• Must be a team player, good pre planning of a job and organisation of a worksite.
• Mechanical troubleshooter, capable of maintenance and general repairs /upkeep of machines
• Must be Australian or have very good mastery of English language- for safety reasons .
• Must have Australian Tax File number

• Must have high vis long sleeve shirt, long work pants, zipped steel capped boots
• Job  fit medical required (We will arrange for suitable applicant)
• Must have smart phone and be capable of learning to use apps and be willing to use location services
