Role Outline
The Executive Director, Government Relations Branch, leads NSW Health’s strategic inter-and intra-government approach to major health agreements and sensitive health portfolio matters encompassing commonwealth-state Government Relations, policy and funding reform, violence, abuse and neglect and the National Health Secretariat. The role promotes NSW Health priorities and objectives of the NSW Government across the Commonwealth Government, State and Territory Governments and other NSW agencies and has an extensive network and strong relationships with senior stakeholders at all levels of Government.

You are required to submit a one page covering letter, including a short statement in response to the two targeted questions below:
- Describe your executive management experience and proven track record of achievement in leading a broad and varied portfolio and managing long term strategic projects in a health service delivery environment.
- Describe a time when you have had to lead and manage high level negotiations across all levels of government and other jurisdictions.
The successful candidate will have:
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in a health-related field and/or a demonstrated track record of leading the development, research and analysis of inter- and intra-government health policy, legislative, regulatory, financial and service matters.
- Extensive experience in leading the negotiation and coordination of major health agreements with the Commonwealth and other State and Territory Governments.
- Extensive experience in evaluating complex cross sector policies and strategies, recognise and resolve critical and sensitive issues, and provide high level authoritative advice to senior executives and Ministers.
- In depth knowledge of current and emerging strategic health policy issues in a large and diverse public health care system.
- Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain constructive and cooperative working relationships with the Commonwealth and other State and Territory Governments in an environment of potentially conflicting interests.
This is an ongoing, full time, Band 2, Public Service senior executive (PSSE) role. An attractive remuneration package within the range of $304,135 to $340,289 per annum, will be negotiated with the successful applicant.
