Overview

The Executive Director Operations is accountable to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), BHFLHN for the leadership and management of a range of health services for defined population groups in BHFLHN.

The position is responsible for the planning, leadership and management of a comprehensive range of services, programs and specialised strategies that focus on access to healthcare services, the promotion and improved outcomes for defined population groups. This will involve the initiation and effective management of innovative system design, service leadership, service delineation and research, service standards and aged care planning, reporting and monitoring, to successfully deploy BHFLHN resources.

The Executive Director of Operations is responsible for leading pro-active service planning, capacity planning and management, effective corporate and clinical governance, and high levels of clinical engagement to foster consumer centred and integrated care.

The Executive Director Operations has a lead role in planning and service commissioning, and oversight key projects to ensure that service delivery is focused on improving the equity of health care access, better integration of care and improved health outcomes for the community. The position has an integral role in the planning and delivery of capital developments.  They will develop and maintain a high performing, cohesive team to develop and sustain transformation change in line with BHFLHN’s strategic directions.

The Executive Director Operations will work in close partnership with the Executive Director Nursing and Midwifery and Executive Director of Medical Services to ensure that there is a pro-active and systematic approach to clinical and business reform, and that there is effective communication to clinical leaders. The Executive Director Operations also represents the CEO in regard to state-wide access and flow strategy and performance, and other state-wide bodies relevant to the role.

The position will manage within allocated operational budgets, ensuring performance targets are met and develop resourcing, efficiency and improvement strategies to meet required outcomes.

The Executive Director Operations is the dedicated lead for incident command and emergency management across the LHN.

The incumbent may be required to accept responsibility for other portfolio and/or program areas determined by the CEO, BHFLHN in response to changing priorities and needs.
