Our clients operate a large family farming business across several properties in the Maranoa and Central Highlands of Queensland. This position is based on their 20,000-acre property near Roma, QLD which has both an impressive broadacre program and cattle breeding enterprise. The dryland cropping of grain and fodder crops is conducted on 6,000 acres and includes the cultivation of wheat and oats as the primary crops, with occasional summer crops being sown depending on the season.
The herd of 1,000 Hereford/Santa Gertrudis breeders and their offspring run on the remaining 14,000 acres with steers grown out to meet the demands of the feeder market. The cattle are processed using low-stress stock handling techniques without the use of dogs, and cattle work is timed in concurrence with seasonal calving and weaning throughout the year.
You will be working closely with the farm manager and will be involved in all aspects of the cropping and livestock enterprises. There will be weekend and night work during peak times such as planting, harvesting, and spraying, however you will be compensated with time off in lieu. The position will also include general maintenance of farm infrastructure, machinery, and vehicles, making mechanical and fabrication skills advantageous.

Ideal Candidate
To be considered for the position, the ideal candidate should have experience in broadacre cropping and livestock handling. They should be an effective and strong communicator with a positive, can-do attitude, and additionally, they should have basic crop agronomy knowledge, including a chemical user's certificate.
Importantly, you will need to hold an MC licence or qualify to have your current truck licence upgraded.
