An exciting opportunity now exists for a Farm Hand to take the next step in their career & transition into this Experienced Farm Hand role with a company who owns both irrigated and dryland rotational cropping country near Tara, Queensland. Tara is a rural community situated southwest of Dalby and north of Goondiwindi and encompasses all that the downs region of Queensland has to offer.
Reporting to the Cropping Manager, the Experienced Farm Hand at Tara will enjoy diversification within this hands-on role and will be responsible for carrying out a fortnightly work plan delivered by the off-site manager in terms of ground preparations, spraying, planting, irrigation and pump and machinery maintenance to name a few. Ongoing property development is occurring, therefore heavy earthmoving contractors are in place on this property currently.
Duties will include but not be limited to:
- All aspects of crop production including maintenance of weed and pest control, drought preparedness, soil erosion prevention, fire management, nature conservation and pasture spelling.
- Machinery operating.
- Mechanical work, welding and fence maintenance & repairs.
- Maintenance of records & maintaining regular communication with upper management.
- To have previous work experience as a Farm Hand on a dryland or irrigated cropping property and to offer that transitional skills that will enable autonomous delivery of a regular work plan.
- To be capable of operating modern tillage equipment within a cropping operation.
- To have sound mechanical and property maintenance skills to offer.
- To have the ability to work autonomously and within a small team environment.
- To uphold a strong work ethic and be committed to a safe working environment.
- To hold a current driver’s licence with any other operator accreditations or truck licence being favorable.
- To have a genuine passion for Australian agriculture and working within a regional rural location.
