- Senior Farm Handrequired to work with government organisation.
- 36.25 hours a week ongoing casual role with the potential to become permanent.
- $39 p/h.
- Undertake animal care tasks for cattle (calves through to adults) such as cleaning and sanitation of animal enclosures, feeding, and exercising animals.
- This role is based in Wacol, QLD and will require you to have own reliable vehicle.
- Role is under 3-week fixed roster:
- Week 1 – Monday to Friday 7.25 hours each day
- Week 2 - Monday to Friday 7.25 hours each day
- Week 3 – Monday to Wednesday 7.25 hours each day, Thursday Friday off, Saturday & Sunday 6am – 10am
- Must have current C Class drivers’ licence;
- Commitment to obtain vaccination or evidence of prior vaccination to Q fever will be required prior to starting with Biosecurity Queensland.
- Previous experience working with large animals.
- Must pass Criminal History Check
- Undertake animal care tasks for cattle (calves through to adults) such as cleaning and sanitation of animal enclosures, feeding, and exercising animals.
- Undertake property maintenance including water and fencing infrastructure, bores, pumps, solar equipment, fencing, electric fencing and cattle yard maintenance and cleaning.
- Provide practical knowledge and skills in animal husbandry using low stress stock handling techniques to muster and move cattle, draft and process cattle through yards.
- Assist in blood sampling procedures and where appropriate under supervision of a veterinarian administration veterinary prescribed medical treatments.
- Operate machinery and equipment, including tractors, side by sides, and four-wheel drive Utes, applying chemical for weed control, safely within the guidelines of SOP’s.
- Conduct servicing, cleaning, and calibration of plant and equipment including chemical, fertilizer and tillage equipment.
Highly Desirable licences for the role:
- Safe and efficient operation of farm plant and machinery, including tractors, front-end loaders, slashers etc.
- Tractor/ front end loader licence
- Quad bike licence
- Chainsaw licence
- Forklift licence
- Competency in welding.
- HR Licence
- Current AgVet Chemical User Certificate
