The Role
Pembroke is seeking an enthusiastic and suitably experienced individual to fill the newly created position of Experiential Learning Coordinator. Reporting to the Deputy Principal, the Experiential Learning Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the planning and coordination of particular programs and activities at the School that enhance the learning experiences of students ELC – Year 12 and which fall outside of the core curricular offerings.
As the Experiential Learning Coordinator, you will work with a range of internal and external stakeholders to ensure the delivery of well-organised, hassle-free and enjoyable school trips. The Experiential Learning Coordinator shall also support Trip Leaders with the organisation of curricular and other trips coordinated by faculties and departments.
What the role will involve
The Experiential Learning Coordinator will:
- Assist Heads of Schools and Heads of Faculty with co-curricular and Experiential Learning programs/activities that take place outside the School.
- Research and compare available travel and accommodation to identify the best available.
- Develop and manage relationships with vendors and negotiate preferred provider contracts.
- Provide guidance and agreed, standardised frameworks to staff developing offsite and international programs.
- Develop and maintain policies and procedures for coordination and execution of school trips and staff travel.
- Ensure Experiential Learning and co-curricular programs are adequately staffed and co-curricular allotments are effectively managed.
- Advise Trip Leaders on the planning, communication and delivery of curricular and other trips.
- In conjunction with the Trip Leader, undertake formal risk assessments.
- Administer travel insurance claims, assist families and staff with insurance queries and liaise with the School’s external insurance broker as required.
What we are looking for
Ideally, the successful candidate will have:
- Experience working as an educator or alongside educators, in an Experiential Learning setting.
- Experience in the management of travel or project budgets.
- Experience in a customer-focussed leadership or coordination role.
- Outstanding interpersonal skills.
- High level written, verbal and electronic communication skills, coupled with high attention to detail.
- Exceptional organisational skills with the ability to effectively prioritise work and multi-task.
- A solutions-focused, positive and diplomatic approach.
- Strong negotiation skills.
- Strong Information Technology skills.
