About the Opportunity

We are seeking casual staff members to assist at the Pound within the Environmental Services Department of Council. The Pound Assistants undertake the day to day operations of the Cowra Council Pound to ensure the facility is maintained to a high standard and promotes good animal health and wellbeing and complies with all legislative requirements.
The successful applicants will be added to a rotating roster where you'll be required to attend the pound on a Saturday, Sunday & public holidays (of your rostered weekend) to carry out Pound duties including feeding animals, cleaning cages and replenishing water bowls. Depending on the capacity at the pound it is approximately two hours of work each day.

Staff will receive on the job training for this position as well as undertaking compliance training related to the role. Please note the Rangers will be on call for the section and will respond to any urgent matters, the Pound Assistants responsibility is to solely attend the pound on weekends. 

Position Details
  • Hourly rate of pay for this position is $31.15 (includes 25% casual loading) - Penalty rates available for time and a quarter on a Saturday and time and a half on a Sunday. 
  • Employer Superannuation of 11%
  • Hours of Work: Saturday, Sunday and Public Holidays (hours vary depending on the capacity at the Pound, approximately 2 hours each day
  • Employment conditions are in accordance with the Local Government (State) Award
  • Candidates must have the right to live and work in Australia to apply for this job
