Job description:
- Provide expert clinical leadership and coordinate an effective Extra Corporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO) Service
- Tier 2 ECMO site, excellent teaching and training opportunities
- Full time position (80 hours a fortnight)
About the Facility
University Hospital Geelong has been designated as a tier 2 (intermediate) ECMO (ExtraCorporeal Membrane Oxygenation) service by the DHHS, as part of the commissioning of the state-wide ECMO service alongside the review by Safer Care Victoria (SCV) and recommendation for optimal service delivery in Victoria for the critically ill.
About the Role
The Extra Corporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO) Clinical Nurse Consultant (CNC) is an expert clinical nurse who, working with the multi-disciplinary team, to achieve outstanding care for patients requiring ECMO within ICU. We are seeking a highly motivated nurse with excellent clinical leadership skills to join our team who can:
- Act as a clinical expert resource to nursing staff and members of the health care team
- Provide education, training and clinical support to staff
The ECMO CNC is responsible for:
- Actively being involved with the development and provision of services within the critical care setting maintaining a service overview for the ECMO patient cohort liaising with the multi-disciplinary team, relevant departments and services involved in the provision of care for this patient group
- Demonstrating an advanced level of clinical knowledge and expertise relevant ECMO and to act as a resource providing clinical support, education and training to staff
- Providing excellent clinical leadership within the unit and working in direct partnership with ECMO Program Director, Victorian ECMO Service (VES), ANUM's and NUM's to provide a coordinated and effective service
- Promoting a standard of consumer centred care which meets professional, organisational, legal and ethical requirements to ensure the personal and professional treatment of patients and families
