About the Role
There are multiple Full time and Part time, Fixed Term positions available at 48-80 hours per fortnight within the Butterfly Ward.
You will work closely with the Nurse Unit Manager (NUM) to contribute to strategic and operational management in the Newborn Intensive Care Unit. You will act as a dynamic and motivational role model, focusing on exceptional leadership and enhanced clinical specialist skills in order to provide a high standard of clinical care.
What you'll achieve:
- Ensure highest quality and safe standards of care to all neonates and families based on national and local policies / guidelines within the specialty.
- Development and implementation of key clinical performance indicators
- Participate in an annual individual performance review process where objectives will be agreed, performance monitored, and personal development needs discussed.
- Provide a visible, accessible and approachable professional leadership presence within the specialty.
Classification for this position will range from YW11 - YW12 (base salary $106,834.00 to $110,432.40 per annum, plus superannuation)
Your skills and experience:
- Current registration as a Registered Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) administered though the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (APHRA)
- Demonstrated commitment to ongoing personal and professional development, as evidenced in a Continuing Professional Development (CPD) record/Professional Practice Portfolio (PPP)
- Recent experience working within a neonatal critical care setting.
- Holds Post Graduate Certificate in Neonatal Intensive Care Nursing

About Butterfly - Newborn Intensive Care Unit (NICU)
The Royal Children's Hospital (RCH) Newborn Intensive Care Unit (NICU) is a Level 6b quaternary-level referral service which provides intensive and high-dependency family-centred care to approximately 800 infants each year. The NICU has a capacity of 35 cots (18 Intensive Care, 17high dependency) and receives referrals of infants from a) maternity hospitals throughout Victoria, southern NSW and Tasmania, b) tertiary perinatal centres, and c) from within the RCH.
