Job description

The University of Sydney Business School is seeking to appoint our next Faculty General Manager, who will play a key leadership role within one of the world's best research universities and its triple-accredited Business School, ranked in the top 1% of Business Schools worldwide, and global leaders in management education. This is an unparalleled opportunity to contribute to and steer the operational and strategic direction of a Business School recognised for its excellence in research, education, and community engagement.

In this role, you will work closely with the Dean and the Business School's leadership team, providing strategic and operational leadership to support our academic and research endeavours. You will play a critical role in developing and implementing the Business School's Strategy 2023-2027 in alignment with the University of Sydney's ambitious 2032 Strategy, which emphasises research excellence, a transformative educational experience, sustainability, and a commitment to a thriving and diverse community.

Key responsibilities include overseeing the Business School's financial management, stakeholder relations, compliance, technology deployment, and workplace safety. You will be instrumental in driving strategic change, ensuring operational alignment across the Business School, and enhancing our culture of excellence, trust, and accountability. This position requires a dynamic leader capable of fostering strong internal and external relationships, guiding and developing our professional staff and service culture, and contributing to the University's governance and strategic decision-making processes.

A seasoned executive with excellent capacity to oversee the full suite of organisational functions in the portfolio, the Faculty General Manager will play a pivotal role in our ongoing efforts to enhance the Business School's reputation both domestically and globally as a great place to work, study, and conduct research. We are in search of a proactive leader who can work collaboratively, strategically, and effectively to ensure we continue to strengthen our operating model and services to embrace and realise our ambitions. Experience in higher education management and an understanding of the strategic issues facing the sector both nationally and internationally are essential.

This is a continuing appointment offering an attractive remuneration package commensurate with the experience and qualifications of the successful candidate. Join us in shaping the future of the University of Sydney Business School and contributing to our mission of developing responsible leaders and impactful knowledge for a prosperous and sustainable future.
