What You Will Be Doing

The aim of the FaPMI Program is to improve outcomes for clients who are parents, their children and families by reducing the impact of parental Mental Illness through timely, coordinated and supportive action. The role of the FaPMI Coordinator is to drive service development and family inclusive practice within Peninsula Health Mental Health Service (PHMHS) and across the catchment, and to build the capacity of services to respond effectively to these Families Where a Parent hasa Mental Illness.

This will be achieved through workforce training and resourcing, policy and procedure development, consultation support for internal and external staff, partnerships between sectors and services, group program delivery and community education. The FaPMI Program is coordinated at the state level by The Bouverie Centre, a practice-research centre of La Trobe University.

What You Need

We anticipate you will have:
• Qualified Registered Nurse, with Post graduate qualification in Mental Health or specialist undergraduate Mental Health program
• Experience in, and knowledge of, the adult, child and adolescent mental health field and associated health and welfare services
• Demonstrated understanding of system change, implementation and workforce development and capacity building
• Experience working with adults who are parents, who have experienced Mental Illness, and their families
• Understanding of the developmental needs of children 0-18 years
• Significant experience in providing consultation to a range of service providers
• Sound knowledge of the relevant legislation pertaining to working in mental health and with children, youth and families
• Capacity to collaborate with community based agencies, consumers and carers
• Ability to design and deliver professional development activities and training to a range of occupational groups and organisations

*Please refer to salary circular for VICTORIAN PUBLIC MENTAL HEALTH SERVICES ENTERPRISE AGREEMENT 2021-2024 for salary range. Sub-grading will be based on years of experience.
