ICH offers a range of services to our communities including NDIS, Community Engagement, Out of Home Care and Family Intervention Services (FIS). Our services work together to support clients in a holistic way.
About the Role – 38 hours/week Maternity Leave Position until 31 December 2024 (with a possibility of extension until June 2025)
In this rewarding and diverse role, you will have the opportunity to improve the lives of children and families who have come to the attention of the child protection system.
You will achieve this by working in conjunction with Child Safety and other services to support and empower families to address their child protection concerns and assist them to reunify with their children who are currently in care, or to prevent their children from entering the care system.
Your duties will be varied in this role and include:
- Active case management, in collaboration with both the family and Child Safety, to plan and agree on the goals to be achieved and regularly reviewing progress.
- Establishing a therapeutic relationship and evoking change talk
- Providing psycho education and developing parents skills to parent safely
- Having an active professional voice at meetings with Child Safety (e.g. Practice Panel, Family Group Meetings) and at other stakeholder meetings.
- Making regular home visits to work with families intensively on their goals. This includes education, modelling and practical support.
- Referral and support to assist clients to access other services (DFV, Housing, Mental Health D&A) and maintaining positive relationships with these service providers.
- Advocacy and providing comprehensive reports on clients’ progress.
This position will be ideal for someone with experience in domestic and family violence, alcohol and other drug or parenting support roles.

This role is has flexible hours which can suit your schedule (worked Monday-Friday between 8am-5pm).
About You
- You have a relevant degree (i.e. Social Work, Human Services or Social Welfare, Psychology or Behavioural Science) from a recognised tertiary institution and a minimum of one years’ experience in children protection or work experience in a relevant occupation.
- You have proven experience in case management and can undertake the core elements including assessment of needs, case planning, service delivery, monitoring and review.
- Knowledge of attachment and trauma, domestic violence and child development and work in a culturally sensitive way and from a strengths-based framework.
- You are passionate about the care and protection of children and acknowledge that all people have the capacity to change. You are persistent and creative, and willing to use a variety of approaches to engage service users.
- You enjoy working in a fast paced and outcomes focused team environment as well as having the ability to operate independently.
- You will have a current blue card, be willing to undergo a personal history check (LCS2 check) and have a current QLD drivers’ licence.
