Mercy Community is seeking a passionate and engaging Case Worker to join the Families and Young People Services Team. The team currently have a Fixed-term, Full-time vacancy for a Case Worker to work within our New Families Program based in Nudgee.
$93,860 - $98,108 annually (award) plus superannuation plus generous salary packaging available
What you’ll be doing
- Conduct a parenting assessment on the mother’s capacity to meet the needs of her baby
- Develop an intervention plan to meet the identified needs in line with the departments case plan
- Work with mothers to improve their parenting skills and gain confidence in caring for their baby
- Provide support and education around behaviours that put their baby at risk
- Connect with relevant community agencies to build a robust safety and support network for both the mother and baby
As the successful applicant, you will possess:
- Tertiary qualifications in Social Work, Behavioural Sciences, Psychology or related discipline and relevant experience
- Demonstrated understanding of the issues that impact on families subject to statutory involvement, including knowledge of family violence, child protection issues, substance abuse, child and adolescent development, trauma and attachment
- Demonstrated experience in the assessment and the provision of family support to vulnerable children and families
- Demonstrated understanding of First Nation peoples, cultures and societies and the issues which impact upon them in contemporary society together with a commitment to culturally safe engagement and practice
- Demonstrated high level interpersonal skills and the ability to produce clear, accurate and concise written case notes and reports, meeting pre-set timeframes
- A Queensland Drivers Licence (Green Provisional (P2 or Open Licence)
- You must hold a current positive notice in the Working with Children Check (Blue Card) and have the ability to obtain any other legislatively required personal history screening as required
- Evidence of current vaccination against whooping cough or willingness to obtain prior to commencement
