Located in North Adelaide, the Family Liaison Officer role at Ronald McDonald House Charities SA (RMHCSA) is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced children and families worker who has experience in trauma informed practice.
The Family Liaison Officer is pivotal to ensuring families are safely accommodated and supported while staying at Ronald McDonald House.
THE ROLE:
Reporting to the Families Coordinator and as a member of the Operations and Programs Team, the Family Liaison Officer will be responsible for:
- Providing a warm welcome to families when they arrive at Ronald McDonald House
- Coordinate guest stays, overflow accommodation, and the referral process.
- Liaise with Hospital and Health Services to provide assistance with negotiating accommodation needs and various Patient Travel Schemes
- Work collaboratively with families, stakeholders and natural support systems to ensure a holistic wrap-around service and identify where additional assistance or external services may be required.
- Build family capacity by using partnerships, outcomes based, strengths perspective and child and family centred care approaches
- Collaborate with other team members to deliver programs and support services, promoting positive and culturally respectful approaches to child and family well-being.
- Provide case management for longer term stays, delivering support to vulnerable and disadvantaged families
- Provide timely response by taking phone calls after hours, overnight and on weekends on an on-call rotating roster
THE CANDIDATE:
To secure this role the ideal candidate will have:
- Proven experience working with children and families and experience using trauma informed practice.
- Minimum Cert IV in a human services related field - e.g. community services, social work, psychology.
- Experience working with CALD and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families
- Experience working with and supporting volunteers
- A current DHS Working With Children Check and valid Police Check
