We now have a Full-time, 12-month Maternity Leave Position, for a Family Preservation and ReunificationPractitioner to join our team.This position is based at our Wallan office.
As our next Family Preservation and Reunification Practitioner, you will be providing support to children and families where the children are either at risk of entering care systems, or where safe and rapid reunification is appropriate.
Your caseload will be low, allowing you to provide intensive support to the children and families under your care. This is a unique opportunity to directly impact client outcomes by working with each family at least twice per week and placing children and families at the centre of your practice.
This program is funded to provide an intensive intervention phase of up to 200 hours per family, followed by a step-down support phase of up to 40 hours.
How You'll Make a Difference:
- Delivering effective interventions that increase parenting capacity, improve family functioning, achieve child safety and enhance the conditions for child development with the aim of achieving better outcomes for children.
- Contribute as a member of the care team or professional network to support case planning and ongoing risk assessment while working collaboratively with other agencies e.g. Child Protection.
- Identify gaps in services available to clients and advocate on their behalf.
To be considered for this role, you must hold at a minimum, a Bachelor of Social Work or other tertiary qualification relevant to social welfare practice. You should also have some demonstrated experience in a similar role where you were responsible for case management in the family and child sector.
Your highly developed communication skills will also be crucial to your success in this role, as you’ll be liaising with other professionals in the industry and will have families and children relying on your ability to disseminate appropriate information regarding the services available to them.
Other requirements include, but are not limited to:
- Ability to practice high-level emotional intelligence, especially while providing support for families impacted by trauma
- A thorough understanding of risk factors involved in child protection matters
- A comprehensive understanding of the principles and challenges of supporting vulnerable families and children
- Willingness to obtain a valid Working With Children Check and satisfactory National Police Check prior to commencing employment with us. If you have spent over 12 months overseas in the last 10 years, you will also be required to undergo an International Police Check or present evidence of a satisfactory check
- Minimum of 2 doses of an approved COVID-19 vaccine and a valid Australian Driver Licence
