Winanga-Li Aboriginal Child and Family Centre is one of nine centers in NSW. our overall aim is to provide culturally safe and appropriate education and care and support services for children and families.
 

We are inviting applicant from people wishing to apply for the role of Family Preservation trainee caseworker, the role is responsible for supporting children to remain safely at home with their family. this is great opportunity for those who are interested in becoming a qualified caseworker.  This position is a full-time position, working 37.5hrs over 5 days. 

The position will require a Driver’s License, the ability to travel, and participate on the on-call roster. 

This is an Aboriginal identified position. 

Primary Roles: 

  • Attend Mandatory training with completion of Diploma in Child, Youth, and Family Intervention or Cert IV in Community Services.
  • In house training on all aspects of casework.
  • Actively participate in local and sector networks, advocacy, and consultation relevant to the program.

Primary Duties:

  • Promote the services of Winanga-Li at interagency level and through the community.
  • Contribute positively to the development of Winanga-Li’s program operational plan and realisation of the program’s goals.
  • Actively and constructively participate in supervision and all relevant staff meetings.
  • Attend relevant training and professional development.
  • Maintain appropriate records and data.
  • Other duties relating to the functions and roles of the position as directed by management.

Selection Criteria

Essential:

  1. Be of Aboriginal descent and a demonstrated understanding of why this is relevant to the role.
  2. Experience working with Aboriginal people or within the Aboriginal community.
  3. Good computer skills with knowledge of the Microsoft Office; including Outlook and capacity to navigate the network for work purposes.
  4.  Ability to respect and work within the values of Winanga-Li and commitment to Winanga-Li’s policies and procedures.
  5. Demonstrated high level report writing skills.
  6. Willingness to complete studies /Training
