Job description

  • Maximum Term, part-time role until 30 June 2025
  • 45.6 hours per fortnight (Normal working hours with the possibility of after- hours activities, overnight camps to meet needs of participants)
  • Based in Carnarvon

About the Role

Ngala is seeking for suitable candidates to join as a Family / Youth Mentor.

Our preferred applicant will be experienced in working with families and be able to identify areas of need.

The successful candidate will be proactive and have the ability to work collaboratively across all departments ensuring the focus is always on quality and best practice.

As a Family/Youth Mentor, your responsibilities include, but not limited to:

  • Build and establish relationships with young people to develop individual goals to be included in Individual Support Plans.
  • Provide strong outreach and case management support for young people to promote practical daily routine and stability, develop skills, and link to other services.
  • Provide access to diversional and recreational activities for young people, including cultural and activities on country.
  • Work collaboratively and effectively with Target 120 team and key community stakeholders to support families.

About You

The successful candidate will be highly organised and have strong communication skills together with the following:

  • Relevant qualifications and/or experience working with the target group.
  • A knowledge and sensitivity to the barriers that may prevent families and young people at risk from achieving their full potential.
  • Sound organisational skills, including the ability to plan, prioritise and meet deadlines.
  • The ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Intermediate/Proficient level of IT and Administrative skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and written.
  • Effective interpersonal and relationship building skills.
  • Act with integrity in all organisational activities and maintain confidentiality.

If you are successful in this position you will need to provide a satisfactory National Police Clearance (within the last 6 months).
