Job Vacancy
Wilmar Sugars' Burdekin Region Farms are seeking a suitably qualified Farms Operations Manager to join our team. This senior operations role is responsible for leading a team that will safely perform the operations and maintenance functions, liaising with stakeholders to implement initiatives to improve profitability and sustainability of the farming and harvesting operations.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the farm enterprise
- Work closely with Group Manager Farms to ensure the required organisational design, development and processes needed to achieve operational goals and objectives.
- Manage performance and development of direct reports in accordance with Wilmar's HR Standards and Procedures (including succession planning, training/development planning, recruitment and selection, coaching/mentoring and performance management).
- Deliver agronomic solutions to ensure the adoption of new farming systems that use best farming practices to maximize production and reduce costs
- Investigate new initiatives that can be applied to improve profitability and sustainability of the farming and harvesting operations
- Develop the team in the operation of a large scale best-practice cane farm
- Budgeting and cost control
We are seeking an individual with strong leadership skills and solid stakeholder engagement. You will have a demonstrated commitment to safety, a keen interest in process improvement, and a proactive team approach to problem-solving.
Something about you
The successful applicant will hold a minimum degree level in relevant Agronomy discipline, or equivalent practical experience and a Queensland "C" Class driver's license. You will have a minimum of five years recent cane farming or equivalent agricultural experience, and minimum five years' experience managing diverse workgroups. You will have proven experience in budgeting and cost management, SAP and Trimble Ag Software.
