About the opportunity
We are seeking applications for Fauna Spotter Catchers on an on-going casual basis, who will be responsible for the on-ground works across a variety of exciting projects located in South East Queensland.
In this role you will be responsible for:
- Following the directions of the Fauna Unit Business Manager to ensure that projects are operated according to contracted timeframes and agreed sequences of events
- Provide knowledge and field labour to the wildlife management and relocation process including wildlife handling and restraint, identification of native flora and fauna, habitat identification, data collection and GPS mapping
- Assist in collection of data and photographs for reporting as requested
- Ensure that all works are carried out in a safe and environmentally-sound manner, and escalate any potential problems to the Unit Project Coordinator
- Access to own transport to get to worksites
About you
To be successful in this role, you will have experience on sites with a high safety standard and encompass a great safety culture. In addition, you will have:
- Demonstrated on-ground experience in a similar role within the building, mining and resource industries, or linear infrastructure on major projects in the planning or implementation stage is preferred
- Qualifications in wildlife management, conservation and land management, or animal related studies will be highly regarded but not essential,
- Previous experience as a Fauna Spotter Catcher or Wildlife handling is preferred,
- General Construction Induction Card (White Card) essential
- Working at Heights & EWP desirable but not essential
- Field experience in identification of vegetation and recognition of important field species is preferred
- Manual Car Licence
