Job description

MSM Milling is looking for a Feedmill Operator who will be responsible for ensuring the day-to-day operation of the Feedmill to ensure it meets or exceeds production & quality targets. The roles involves completing documentation related to volumes, time, defects, quality, customer complaints or a range of other factors related to the operator’s work environment and responsibilities.  This is always to be done with a priority on employee safety & health.

It's a full time employment as per those set out in, the in-effect MSM Milling Employee Collective Workplace Agreement.

The Operator establishes work area, machine, or equipment to perform operating tasks according to prescribed procedures. The roles involves completing documentation related to volumes, time, defects, quality, customer complaints or a range of other factors related to the operator’s work environment and responsibilities operator’s work environment and responsibilities. 

Main tasks will include:

  • Review orders/schedules to determine work/production specifications and delivery/quality goals
  • Ensure logistics are kept fully informed of supplies required to support production schedules and goals
  • Ensure the plant is running to its maximum capacity
  • Focus on yield improvement and reduction in consumables.
  • Increase plant running time.
  • Ensure appropriate data is recorded over all areas of the plant
  • Work with maintenance staff to resolve equipment faults and the scheduling of planned maintenance, projects & process improvement to meet operational/production timelines, safety, and quality specifications
  • Communicate with other departments and management to resolve problems and ensure schedules are met
  • Work with QA manager to ensure customer complaints are addressed in a timely and appropriate manner

The suitable candidates are required to have:
  • over 2 years' relevant work experience
  • Experience in a production environment that includes the responsibility for planning and directing work activities
  • Demonstrated initiative in carrying out tasks
  • Good computer skills with accurate data entry
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills including the ability to convey information in an effective and concise manner and prepare and present reports
  • Attention to detail and analysis skills to be able to interpret production statistics
  • Strong Interpersonal skills and demonstrated capacity to develop relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders
  • Ability to work under pressure and to tight timeframes
  • Commitment and adherence to environmental, food safety and workplace health and safety regulations/legislation/standards
