Job description

Ability To Achieve (ATA) is a growing service provider with a dedication, passion and intent to help support vulnerable youth and individuals living with a disability. We endeavour to empower all our participants as we see the potential to fulfil their goals and improve their quality of life.

DETAILED KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support and assist participants with in-home supports, SIL and Community Access, in accordance with directions from the client, the client’s individual support plan, behavioural support plan and directions from Team leaders and Ability to Achieve care coordinators and other ATA management team members.
  • If requested in the support plan, assist with meal planning, shopping, meal preparation, budgeting, and money handling skill development. In addition, provide support and assistance with domestic tasks including cleaning, vacuuming etc.
  • Where required, assist with various complex care tasks such as hoist transfers, continence care, diabetes management, supporting participants with medication, etc.
  • Engage in a positive approach if there is an incident that requires attention.
  • Attend mandatory meetings, orientations and training as required.
  • Client transportation assistance. This could be either in the Support Worker’s car, or an ATA work vehicle, or by assisting the client to access public transport.
  • Assistance to organise and/or attend appointments and engage in community activities.
  • Provision of personal care support and assistance to maintain daily hygiene, with a focus on maintaining client dignity and privacy.
  • Support with personal grooming and dressing.
  • Clean, fitting and removal of aids and devices.

We are looking for candidates that have the following:

  • A minimum qualification of a Certificate III or above in the following disciplines: Aged Care, Disability, Nursing, or a recognised certificate or diploma of Community Services, or similar.
  • A minimum of 1-2 years’ experience working as a Disability Support Worker with complex Participants.
  • Current First Aid and CPR qualifications.
  • Current Ochre Care (WWC) 
  • Current NDIS Worker Screening Check (NDIS Check).
  • A current Northern Territory driver licence.
  • Experience with High complex care and experience with ABI’s and high complex behaviours of concern is a must.
  • Great communication skills.
  • Experience with FASD highly regarded. 
  • A sound understanding of privacy and confidentiality requirements in client care provision.
  • Ability to work as a team.
  • Available to work across a 24/7 roster, including active nights and inactive nights.
