About the role
The SA Water Operations team at Port Augusta are looking for their newest Field Technician to join their hard-working team. If you are a proactive individual who loves field-based work, getting the job done, and the excitement of no day being the same we would love to hear from you! The Port Augusta depot covers from Kimba through to Woolundunga, as well as looking after the networks in Oodnadatta and Marla which will mean being part of the roster to go up there for roughly a week at a time around once a year, then any emergency work which maybe needed throughout the year.
This is a dynamic role, that focuses on construction and maintenance, where you and your team will be responsible for delivering preventative, corrective maintenance, emergency response activities, and new construction projects.
As a Field Technician you will bring your 'can do attitude, and experience with civil operations/general labour/maintenance. You will demonstrate excellent communication skills, with an ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team. You will be driven to apply your problem-solving and decision-making skills on complex water, wastewater, spring and bore systems, striving for optimal outcomes and resolution.
Key Responsibilities
- Undertake construction, maintenance, and operational tasks on complex water and wastewater systems.
- Lead water and wastewater investigations, construction, commissioning, laying mains and connections.
- Undertake environmental reporting and acquire relevant permits and approvals.
- Perform manual handling tasks, working at heights and confined space work.
- Put safety above all else, taking responsibility for your safety as well as others.
- Use technology systems and programs in accordance with procedures, and complete electronic reporting.
- Deliver excellent customer service, you will be representing SA Water in the community and strive to maintain a customer focused approach.
- Must be willing to participate in an on-call roster and provide 24/7 support as per business needs. (On-call allowance and overtimes rates for call outs)
- Occasional travel (allowances and compensation included)
Key requirements of the role include:
- Drivers license - Essential
- Truck license, backhoe and excavator license - Highly desirable
- White Card (or willingness to obtain)
- Skilled in the use and maintenance of hand and power tools, small machinery and various static and mobile vehicles, plant and machinery - Highly Desirable
- Previous trade qualifications - Highly desirable
- Tech savvy and able to learn new technologies
