Dunns Earthmoving is a South Australian company providing earthworks and related services for the Mining and Exploration Industries in remote areas throughout Australia. Our field operations are based in the Cooper-Eromanga Basin, located on the South Australian and Queensland border, covering a vast area of Central Australia's desert. It has been regarded as the central hub for onshore oil and gas supply to South Australia, Queensland and New South Wales.
Position Overview
We are seeking a talented Heavy Diesel Mechanic who possesses a strong passion for automotive mechanics and a keen eye for detail to join our maintenance team in the Cooper Basin, South Australia. The role is 2 on 2 off FIFO roster with day shift work. The successful candidate will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining light vehicles to ensure their optimal performance and safety on the road. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work with a variety of vehicles and earthmoving equipment and to further skills in these areas.
Key Responsibilities
- Conducting diagnostic tests and repairs on vehicles to identify issues and determine appropriate solutions
- Performing routine maintenance tasks such as oil changes, tyre rotations and brake inspections
- Repairing or replacing automotive parts such as engines, transmissions, brakes and electrical systems
- Conducting thorough inspections of vehicle to identify potential issues and prevent future problems
- Following safety protocols and regulations to ensure a safe working environment for all
- Maintaining accurate records of all repairs and services performance on vehicles
- Capable of working autonomously in breakdown situations
- Willingness to be flexible with roster changes if required
- Demonstrated commitment to safety
Minimum requirements
- Cert III in Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology or equivalent.
- Proven experience as a Heavy Diesel Mechanic
- Strong technical knowledge of automotive systems and components
- Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and equipment to identify vehicle issues
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast paced environment
- Excellent problem solving skills and attention to detail
- Pre-employment medical, drug and alcohol screen

- Senior First Aid Certificate (Apply First Aid)

- Air Conditioning ticket (highly regarded)
- HR truck licences (highly regarded)
