About the Role
You will be based at Port Hedland on a fly-in fly-out 8/6 12 hrs roster.
Technical Officer Communications focus is to support Network Operation Centre which is the hub of the "Operating and Control Systems" to safely operate Trains on the WAIO Network.
Reporting to the Communications Supervisor, within the Rail Communications team responsibilities include:
- An overriding commitment to health, safety, environmental responsibility and sustainable development.
- Completes scheduled maintenance tasks & allocated faults, rectifying them in a timely manner.
- Completes daily time confirmations, including fault data capture and accurate time allocation.
- Raise SAP notifications for faults and issues for maintenance.
- Analysing equipment failure trends and recommend replacement of equipment and or components.
- Manning the 24/7 Network Operation Centre, continually monitoring all Rail Communications systems integrity.
- Provide technical advice to the Rail Communications Team, including identification of continuous improvement opportunities.
- Manage effective workplace relations with inter-departmental personnel
- Assist with Incident Investigations, and/or Risk Assessments as required
- Ensure all incidents, hazards and observations are recorded and actions implemented in a timely manner
About You
As a successful candidate you will possess the following:
- DL C Class
- Trade Qualified in Communications, Telecommunications, Electronics or similar.
- CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Associate)
- Minimum of C class manual driver's licence
Desireable
- Knowledge of any or all:
- SDH/PDH/DWDM transmission systems.
- Microwave and Optic Fibre communications
- Ethernet and IP Networks
- P25 Digital and Analogue radio maintenance and repairs
- Solar power systems
- Rail asset protection systems
- Network Management Systems
- Extensive field experience and is looking to progress into a technical leading role
- Previous experience in a Network Operating Centre would be advantageous.
- Competence with Microsoft suite
