This position will sit within Finance Analysis and Partnership team in the Public Schools Finance area. This unit provides operational, tactical and strategic financial planning and analysis support to Divisional stakeholders. A key responsibility of this team is to provide financial analysis and insight to Divisional stakeholders to ensure efficient and effective allocation of funds and delivery of outcomes.
About the role
This role will see you provide assistance and support to the Principal Finance Officer for the assigned Portfolio related financial management and services (excluding shared services), including associated advice and recommendations for the Schools Portfolio’s financial operations.
Key accountabilities
- Analysing financial data, evaluation and prioritising funding alternatives
- Assisting and supporting activities associated with the financial management of programs such as: Business performance monitoring and review, Developing budget savings targets and approaches to achievement of targets, Financial and management reporting, Funding calculation and requests, Periodic budget and forecast reporting and review including recurrent budget adjustments,
- Preparing information for input into the statutory financial statements
- Providing financial advice and liaison with external stakeholders (eg. NSW Treasury) as required

- Knowledge of and commitment to implementing the Department’s Aboriginal Education Policy and upholding the Department’s Partnership Agreement with the NSW AECG and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people.

This role partners with business units and program areas to provide high level financial advice, analysis and decision support to shape and facilitate the achievement of strategic outcomes.
You will collaborate with key stakeholders to develop an understanding of the business and key drivers influencing business performance. Provide high level financial advice, financial management information and insights to support strategic decision making
