About the Role:
Heavy Industry is the largest of five business units of Fortescue WAE with activity split between the UK and Australia. With the Heavy Industry Managing Director and CFO based in the UK there is a requirement for a Senior Finance Manager to lead the finance aspects of the Australian activity, being a key partner to the Heavy Industry Australian General Manager.
This role is a multifaceted and critical position within the organisation, and you will report directly to the Heavy Industry GM and a Senior Finance person based in the UK. This role involves overseeing and managing various aspects related to strategic financial planning, financial reporting and controlling activities for Heavy Industry Australia
You will be part of a newly-formed, dynamic and exciting team supporting the global Heavy Industry with a key focus on decarbonisation. To be successful in this role, you will need to be a quick but critical thinker, with the ability to adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, facilitate, and lead the annual and quarterly strategy and financial planning process.
- Supporting development of 5-10-year business plans including detailed financial models including long term Opex, Capex and revenue forecasts (including tax, transfer pricing, product development costs, targeted internal rate of return etc).
- Responsible for financial forecasting models.
- Preparing a consolidated view of the business plan and roadmap through state of play sessions.
- Review long term commercial models to support business cases.
- Perform the month-end financial statement close (FSC) process.

- Perform the month-end financial statement close (FSC) process.
- Work closely with the UK Finance team to ensure efficient reporting processes, and work towards integrated systems and processes.
- Collaborating with other Finance departments, including Energy Finance, to ensure alignment on financial forecasting and planning from a capital allocation perspective.
- Ensuring financial planning and budgeting tools / systems (i.e. Anaplan, SAP, Excel) are fit for purpose.
- Preparing advice on portfolio health, efficient allocation of capital and progression towards achievement of strategic plans.
- Build strong relationships with UK Heavy industry team across finance and operations.
Qualification and Skills:
- Proven (10yrs+) commercial / financial experience in a similar role at a complex and fast-paced organisation, preferably in resources, heavy industry, energy, or manufacturing
- SAP experience preferred, including knowledge of PP, MM, FI modules.
- Strong understanding of IFRS. Ability to grasp complex accounting issues and communicate in a clear and concise manner.
- Strong analytical skills, including the ability to distil, synthesize and draw conclusions from large amounts of information and data.
- Strong understanding of Commercial modelling
- Strong understanding of Project Planning and Project Cost Control
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to build strong relationships and influence key stakeholders to achieve desired outcomes.
- Strong business writing and presentation skills
- Excellent problem-solving skills
- Excellent attention to detail
- Ability to work within tight deadlines with a high degree of autonomy and flexibility
- CA or CPA qualified
