The Opportunity
You will report directly to our Financial Controller and will lead and manage the Finance Operations (FinOps) team, providing guidance, mentorship, and support to team members.
Your Responsibilities
- Prepare and publish Financial reports and analysis to the executive team and senior leaders, including key performance indicators (KPIs), financial forecasts, and variances analysis
- Coordinate the month-end closing process, ensuring all financial transactions are accurately recorded and reported in a timely manner
- Ensure compliance with statutory requirements for financial submissions and reporting, including tax filings, regulatory reports, and statutory audits
- Supervise the payroll process, ensuring accurate and timely processing of employee compensation, deductions, and taxes
- Lead process improvement initiatives to streamline workflows and boost team efficiency
What Success Looks Like
- Sound technical financial accounting and reporting skills with exposure to ensuring compliance in a regulatory framework
- Strong problem solving ability - generating and recommending solutions will add enormous value
- Demonstrated continuous improvement mindset, identifying opportunities for automation and process improvements to streamline FinOps workflows and enhance efficiency and accuracy
- Leading a high high-performing team with clear performance expectations and ongoing coaching, mentorship, and feedback to support professional growth.
- Task management skills and ability to create and follow processes must be exceptional
- Must have very strong attention to detail completing all work in a timely manner and managing stakeholder expectations well at all times
- Proactive with a 'can do' attitude and willingness to learn new things
- Willingness to be involved in value-add activities across the business including board reporting, financial analysis and stock control
- An interest in e-commerce and/or the pet sector would be beneficial
Your Ideal Experience
- CPA or with 10 years financial and management accounting experience
- Problem solving and analytical skills, including the ability to identify issues and suggest solutions
- Demonstrated ability to deliver accurate, insightful, timely reporting
- Proven track record on meeting deadlines
- Strong Spreadsheet skills (intermediate to advanced)
- Experience in a retail environment accounting for inventory (ideal)
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management and team-building skills
- Experience with NetSuite (highly desirable) or other online accounting software
Role Location
At Pet Circle we believe that collaboration and team connection is key for success. This role will be based in Sydney with a blended working arrangement of up to 3-4 days per week in our pet friendly CBD offices and the remainder working from home (or the office, if you prefer!)
