The Finance team is responsible for protecting and supporting the Firm, our Partners and People in all matters financial and governance, ranging from financial and trust accounting, performance management, tax & compliance, credit & cashflow management to payroll.
Key responsibilities
- Overseeing the day-to-day activities of the Finance Operations team, ensuring the team is well-organised, efficient and delivers high quality and customer-service focused support to the business, and meets the compliance obligations for all subsidiaries.
- Responsible for the accuracy and integrity of transactional finance/accounting/payroll, period end results, statutory compliance and reporting to both internal and external stakeholders.
- Responsible for the continuous improvement of the team and data integrity and input, support with month-end and year-end close processes, cash flow forecasting and budgeting activities.
- Assist the Head of Financial Accounting Operations to manage the Commercial aspects of the business including statutory compliance, risk management, treasury (including bank covenant reporting, cash flow management and forecasting) and general insurances including workers compensation.
- Assist the Head of Financial Accounting Operations in strengthening and/or implement automation and internal controls and identifies areas for continuous improvement.
- Preparing annual financial statutory accounts and liaising with internal audit teams (where necessary) for the completion of annual financial statutory accounts and year end audits.
- Liaising with the internal tax team to support the completion of annual income tax returns, FBT returns and BAS.
- Partnering with our Operations Executives in their budget preparation and monitor of their costs vs budget on a monthly basis.
- This position will also complete ad hoc projects as directed by the Head of Financial Accounting Operations or the CFO such as Mergers & Acquisitions.
- Responsible for the management and support of Trust Accounts under APES310 and AFSL licence reporting
Skills & experience
- Sound understanding of the AASB framework as well as Australian income tax, FBT, GST legislation and APES310
- CA or CPA Qualified (or equivalent)
- Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in a similar role, preferable in a professional services firm
- Well-developed MS Excel skills
- Advanced Power BI Skills is highly regarded
- Exceptional analytical and problem solving skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced dynamic environment whilst keeping focus on the objectives and driving initiatives to ensure that those objectives are met
- Strong people leadership skills
- Flexible and adaptable to rapidly changing business requirements
- Previous experience with systems such as Concur and Great Plain Dynamics is also highly regarded but not essential
