Financial Accountant

Day-to-day accountabilities:

• Preparation of timely and accurate journal entries and reconciliations
• Assistance with preparation of supplementary monthly and quarterly close deliverables
• Assistance with periodic internal and external audit requirements
• Assistance with external financial reporting requirements, including financial statements
• Assistance with ad hoc financial requests as required
• Identification and implementation of improvements relating to close process

This is a permanent part-time role 30.8 hours per week (4 days equivalence ) we are flexible with working days (depending on candidate) and based in Surry Hills. You will need to have full time ongoing working rights—no sponsorship, sorry. Ideally, we are looking for an immediate start.Who you are:To be successful in this position, you will need to be a self-driven, analytical team player and:

• Previous experience in an accounting role, ideally 3–4 years plus experience (it doesn’t have to be in the education sector),
• Have a genuine curiosity in all aspects of your role and be open to new ideas, approaches and perspectives
• Often, ask “why” in order to better understand the situation, work practices and principles.
• Hold yourself and others accountable for their actions and take accountability for team and individual decisions
• Demonstrate a strong analytical and problem-solving mindset
• Have a CA, CPA or ACA designation
• PeopleSoft (would be an advantage)
• Advanced Excel skills required
• Have up to date and technical knowledge of IFRS accounting standards (preference for US GAAP exposure), account preparation and reporting, & internal controls over financial reporting.
• Excellent communication and experience working in a changing environment
• Ability to work independently
