Our Finance Revenue Operations team is seeking a Financial Analyst to provide financial reporting support to Group Finance Managers within either the Revenue Operations, and/or Controlled Entity Teams.
Reporting to the Manager, Revenue Operations, the role will:
- Perform month-end and year-end close activities for all entities across the Group, including preparation and review of complex monthly journals (including accruals, prepayments and allocations) and balance sheet and other GL reconciliations.
- Accountable for the accurate, complete and timely recognition of revenue across all business units in the University
- Prepare grant funding reporting requirements including individual grant acquittals and annual submissions to Higher Education Research Data Collection (HERDC), Australian Research Council (ARC), National Health & Medical Council (NHMRC) Excellence in Research for Australia (ERA) and other funding bodies
- Ensures revenue recognition is in line with AASB 15 by reviewing contracts and revenue recognition checklists with stakeholders, and ensures the appropriate application of revenue recognition methodology
- Support the application of finance policies and procedures and internal controls over assigned responsibilities, continuous improvement in processes and internal control
- Assist the finance team in external research audits and prepare the provision of materials within their area of accountability for external auditors
- Support the Team Manager, Revenue Accounting Operations in implementing change management activities and Ad Hoc tasks.
You will have experience in financial accounting, finance or equivalent, in a similar role within a large organisation preferably with higher education with complex accounting and reporting requirements. You will have good understanding of accounting principles and procedures, experience in the application of accounting standards.
You have strong analytical skills and high attention to details, with the ability to analyse, manipulate and summarise large volumes of data in a robust and controlled manner. You will also have excellent communication skills with the ability to engage with and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders and people from diverse backgrounds and cultures.

- Degree in accounting, finance, or related fields of study.
- 2 years’ experience in financial accounting, finance or equivalent, in a similar role within a large organisation with complex accounting and reporting requirements.
- Strong experience in month-end close processes and delivering accurate and timely information and reports.
- Experience in analysing, manipulating and summarising large volumes of data in a robust and controlled manner.
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Office (particularly Excel).
- Prior experience with data preparation, extraction, manipulation/transformation using queries is highly desirable (Sound knowledge of PowerQuery, SQL, PowerBI DAX or similar data-visualisation tools)
- Experience working with large Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems (preferably FinanceOne)
