Job Summary
The Financial Analyst in the Financial Planning & Analysis Team plays a vital role in ATCO Australia's strategic planning endeavours, managing the end-to-end process of gas volume forecast for the annual business plan, offering support in crafting business cases, evaluating the financial viability of new commercial customer connections, and delivering timely ad-hoc analyses to aid Executive planning and decision-making processes. Collaborating with cross-functional teams, the Financial Analyst contributes to achieving organisational goals by delivering accurate and timely financial insights.

About the role
- Collaborating with the business to conduct financial modelling and assess capital investment decisions for inclusion in business cases, ensuring their alignment with strategic business objectives.
- Partnering closely with the Business Development team to evaluate the financial feasibility of new commercial customer connections, adhering to the Business' Capital Contribution policy and NGR79 regulations.
- Enhancing and maintaining the corporate forecasting model to facilitate ongoing effective business planning and decision-making processes.
- Preparing and analysing monthly customer volumes and revenue reports to identify trends and insights for informed decision-making.
- Managing the end-to-end process of gas volume forecasting for the annual business plan, ensuring accuracy and alignment with organisational goals.
- Providing support in forecasting cash requirements to support the business in maintaining financial stability and liquidity.
- Analysing complex financial models to facilitate forecasting and strategic business planning efforts.
- Contributing to the annual update of the gas demand forecast, including preparing submissions to the ERA during access arrangement negotiations.
- Fostering an effective team environment, upholding ATCO’s core values, and demonstrating open communication, a continuous improvement mindset, and cross-functional collaboration.
- Providing timely ad-hoc analyses to support Executive presentations for strategic planning, Board presentations, corporate initiatives, business planning forecasts, as well as other organizational initiatives such as strategic planning and forecasting.

Qualifications
- A bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field. A professional certification such as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Chartered Accountant (CA) is highly regarded.
Background
- Proven experience in financial analysis, budgeting, and forecasting within a corporate finance environment, with a strong focus on financial modelling.
- In-depth understanding of finance/valuation concepts and financial statements.
- Experience with cash flow management.
- Strong analytical background and complex financial modelling experience.
- Experience in evaluating new projects' financial viability and understanding general accounting principles and standards.
- Demonstrated experience in introducing new working practices and challenging the status quo for continuous improvement.
- Effective communication skills, including the ability to articulate financial insights and recommendations to non-finance stakeholders and senior leadership.
