Job description

About the Role.
Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), we are looking for an experienced Financial Controller to join our team.

As the Financial Controller at Norths Collective, you will be responsible for overseeing the financial operations of multiple venues within the group. Reporting directly to the CFO, you will play a critical role in driving financial strategy, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and providing leadership to the finance team. This role requires a strong understanding of general accounting principles, consolidation techniques, and business operations across the hospitality and gaming industry.

Your key priorities will be to:
• Financial Reporting and Consolidation. Lead the financial reporting process, ensuring accurate and timely production of the monthly and annual financial statements following accounting standards (AASB) and local policies. Prepare consolidated financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
• Cash Flow Management and Treasury. Manage Norths Collective’s cash flow and liquidity, optimising working capital and ensuring sufficient funds are available for operational needs and capital investments. Work closely with the CFO in managing the various banking relationships and ensuring that all necessary financial reporting for any financial institution is met.
• Budgeting and Forecasting. Coordinate the budgeting and forecasting process by working with the operational team to develop comprehensive financial plans aligned with the broader Collective’s objectives.
• Financial Analysis and Performance Management. Conduct detailed financial analysis to assess the financial performance of individual entities and the group as a whole. Provide insights into key financial metrics, trends, and risks to support strategic decision-making by senior management and the Board of Directors.
• Tax and Compliance. Oversee group tax reporting utilising third parties where appropriate and ensure compliance with Australian tax laws and regulations. Coordinate with external tax advisors to optimise Norths Collective’s tax efficiency within the requirements normally associated with the Club industry.
• Internal Controls and Risk Management. Establish and maintain robust internal controls and financial processes to safeguard company assets, prevent fraud, and ensure compliance with policies and procedures. Develop and implement a robust internal audit process to assess control effectiveness and identify areas for improvement.
• Financial Systems and Process Improvement. Drive the optimisation and implementation of current and future financial systems and processes to streamline operations, enhance data integrity, and support scalability. Leverage technology solutions to automate routine tasks and improve reporting efficiency.
• People Leadership and Development. Lead and mentor members of the finance team, providing guidance, coaching, and professional development opportunities. Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the finance team.
• Communication. Maintain effective communication with all key stakeholders including the CEO, CFO, Senior Leadership team, and all team members.
• Workplace Health and Safety. Work in accordance with Work, Health and Safety legislation while following the club’s operating procedures. Perform all tasks in a safe manner, so as not to endanger yourself and others around you. Ensure that all incident and safety concerns are reported immediately.

The Candidate:
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field; CPA or CA qualification highly desirable.
• Significant experience in senior finance roles, with a focus on financial management and consolidation.
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles, consolidation techniques, and financial reporting standards (AASB).
• Experience with complex financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management.
• Proficiency in financial systems and ERP software, with the ability to implement process improvements.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate financial information to a diverse range of stakeholders across the business.
• Leadership experience, with a track record of building and developing high-performing teams.

Our Benefits:
• 5 weeks annual leave
• Free duty meals
• Free gym membership at Norths Fitness
• Free onsite parking
• Birthday leave
• Energetic and passionate leadership team that embraces change and is focused on success
• Work for a Club that is passionate about its people and our commitment to our communities

If this sounds like you, we would love to hear from you, this is an opportunity not to be missed!
