(HE06) $89,383 - $96,550 per annum plus an employer contribution of 17% superannuation applies.*Fixed term/continuing position until 30 June 2026*We are seeking a First Nations Engagement Officer who will be responsible for the implementation of the Goyder Institute for Water Research's Coorong, Lower Lakes and Murray Mouth (CLLMM) Research Centre First Nations engagement plan. This engagement plan is supporting First Nations involvement in the design and delivery of the CLLMM Research Centre's Science Program. Fundamental to this role is the facilitation of incorporating First Nations science and knowledge in an appropriate manner to inform the management of the Coorong, Lower Lakes and Murray Mouth region, while providing prompt and accurate program information deliveryThe Goyder Institute for Water Research is a research alliance between the South Australian Government through the Department for Environment and Water, CSIRO, Flinders University, the University of Adelaide and the University of South Australia. The Institute facilitates governments, industries and leading researchers to collaboratively identify, develop and adopt innovative solutions for complex water management challenges to ensure a sustainable future. The University of Adelaide is the Manager (legal entity) of the Institute, with its role including employing Institute staff.The Goyder Institute to deliver the CLLMM Research Centre, based in Goolwa, South Australia, to harness First Nations and community input and improve scientific knowledge to better manage the internationally significant Coorong, Lower Lakes and Murray Mouth region in South Australia.To be successful you will need:
- Experience working with First Nations representatives and communities.
- Knowledge and understanding of the cultural values associated with water and aquatic environments.
- Demonstrated experience developing and maintaining effective stakeholder relationships.
- Prior experience in delivering engagement plans.
- Experience and knowledge of the environment of the Coorong, Lower Lakes and Murray Mouth (desirable)
