Lithgow Railway Workshop is a local privately-owned business that services and maintains diesel locomotives and wagons. Employing 45 staff, we currently have a vacant position for a qualified Fitter Machinist or Diesel Fitter/Heavy Plant Mechanic. This is an exciting opportunity to work as part of a small team, within a growing organisation.
This position reports directly to the Workshop Manager, and will be called upon to perform all facets of locomotive preventative maintenance & repairs. This typically includes the inspection, troubleshooting, maintenance and repairs on 900 to 4,400 horsepower diesel locomotives.
A current drivers licence is essential. Previous rail experience is desirable, but not essential. A Forklift Licence would also be desirable but not essential. Must be living in Australia (Location Blue Mountains NSW).
Regular overtime is available and some country travel is also available attending to locomotive repairs around NSW. Wages are negotiable and we would be willing to discuss a higher rate for an exceptional candidate.
A proven ability to work as part of a team, demonstrated value for safety, strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to problem solve are highly desirable.
