The Role
We are seeking talented Florists to join our Palings Flowers team to work across our retail offering and with scope to assist within our event and venue styling.
We are looking for someone who has a passion for customer service and experience working in a high-end floristry setting. Our store is an experience within itself, made even better with exceptional service, product knowledge, and a genuine desire to go above and beyond for our clientele. You will have technical skills, valuable knowledge of seasonal varieties, and the creative flair to make stunning arrangements at commercial speed.
In this role your focus will be on the following but not limited:
- Customer service and building natural rapport with our guests. Taking orders, organising couriers, handling payments, and delivering to our corporate clientele in the CBD
- Creating bespoke arrangements in the Palings Flowers style as well as care, conditioning, and processing of flowers, foliage, and potted plants
- Merchandising and visual presentation of the store including keeping the store clean, tidy, organised, and well stocked
- Assisting the Palings Flowers events team when additional hands are required
- Communicating with wholesalers to order flowers and floral products, going to the Sydney Flower Market to choose and buy flowers, coding supplier invoices, and allocating retail product
About you:
- Advanced knowledge of cut flower varieties, pricing, life spans and handling techniques
- Have a keen eye for design/visual styling and design techniques suited to bouquets and vase arrangements
- Full driver’s license & confidence driving a florist van in the CBD and prepared for heavy lifting, cleaning, manual labour, and long days on your feet
- Previous events, flower market, and pre-ordering experience are highly favourable
- Approachable, patient, and forthcoming attitude with excellent verbal communication skills
Regular hours are Monday to Friday, with a once weekly market shift that starts at 5am. Flexibility to occasionally start early or work evenings to assist with events is helpful.
We are a small retail team, so this role is very hands-on and requires you to take ownership of the space you work in and share accountability for retail operations. Reporting to the Florist Manager, you will work in an incredible environment with the best quality flowers and products, alongside a brilliant team of florists who focus on venues and events.
