Our Client

This is a unique opportunity to work in a family owned and operated business where you’re valued as a person and not just a number. Located south of the river, our client is a family run, fresh meat butcher and smallgoods manufacturer, catering for their retail & wholesale clientele. With over 40 years of experience in the industry, their mission is to sell quality fresh meat and smallgoods, while maintaining exceptional hygiene and providing reasonable prices. All smallgoods’ products are manufactured on-site in an A-grade HACCP approved food premises, using traditional methods with the help of modern technology. They are looking for an experienced Food Production Team Member to join their team. They have a very low staff turnover and are adding to their team due to increased production demands. This position is available full time, Monday to Friday, 6am to 3pm. However, they are flexible and there is the possibility of negotiating working days & hours for the ideal candidate. 

What Your Day May Look Like

You will be trained and then expected to operate Food Production equipment to produce sausages, smoked meats and other smallgoods, as directed. You may be working on various production equipment daily. This may include mincing, pickling, drying and slicing equipment. It will also include set up, changeover, replenishment, breakdown and cleaning of various equipment and packing of smallgoods. You will be expected to meet production targets while maintaining and promoting the highest OHS&E standards at all times.

Here's the Specific Duties of This Role:

  • Operating Food Production equipment in a Food Production environment to produce high quality small goods.
  • Ensuring production, monitoring and OH&S protocols are maintained to the highest standard at all times. 
  • Reporting to the Operations Manager on any production line issues and the condition of production equipment used.
  • Achieving production targets and KPI’s.
  • Assisting with adhoc duties as required by the business.

Who We’re Looking For

You will have recent experience working in food manufacturing, ideally in a smallgoods and/or meat processing environment. You will have experience working within a small team. Please only apply if you have full, ongoing Australian working rights. This role is not applicable for temporary workers or people seeking sponsorships.

You’ll Be the Perfect Candidate If You Have:

  • Experience as a Production Team Member in a smallgoods manufacturing and/or butchering environment. If you’ve got experience making sausages please apply because you could be our ideal candidate.
  • Experience with use of industrial meat processing equipment.
  • Experience working with small teams to achieve production targets and KPI’s.
  • A good understanding of food quality requirements.
  • A good understanding of workplace OHS&E standards in a food environment.
  • Full Australian working rights with no restrictions.
  • Working in Food Production involves manual lifting so you must be physically fit and able to undertake all duties of the role. 
  • Great communication skills.
  • The ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to follow policies, processes and procedures.
  • Ability to prioritise, problem solve and multitask.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work autonomously as well as part of a team.
  • Be reliable, friendly and have good common sense.
