About the Role
The Food Service Assistant will be responsible for the safe provision of quality food and beverage services to our residents, ensuring the individual nutritional requirements and preferences of each resident are met.
Other responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Assist with food preparation and service in accordance with resident preferences, care plans, food safe principles, organisational policy and duty statements.
- Create a dining experience that is enjoyed by residents by ensuring a clean, pleasant and welcoming environment.
- Promote choice and independence by assisting to identify resident needs and preferences and communicating these choices to clinical staff.
- Assist in the preparation and cooking of some meals.
- Work as a team to deliver consistent, resident-focused services.
- Assist with kitchen and servery organisation including stock management, appropriate storage, cleaning and minor maintenance.
- Ensure the accurate and timely completion of all kitchen/servery records.
The successful applicant will have the following skills and experience:
- Hospitality and/or working with food experience
- Experience within aged care would be advantageous
- Current Food Handling Certificate
- Ability to read and interpret dietary information
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to comply with safe work practices and food handling practices
- A commitment to the principles of Workplace Health & Safety and ensuring a safe environment for residents and staff.
- Ability to build strong working relationships and work well as part of a team.
