About the business and the role
GDM Professional Services trading as Raw Outdoor Concepts is a leading Melbourne based landscape construction company specialising in high end residential projects and commercial landscaping projects. We work with award winning builders and developers, as well as amazing clients, to create incredible outdoor spaces. Due to upcoming projects we currently have a vacancy for a Formwork Carpenter.
Job tasks and responsibilities
This full time position is responsible for hardscape construction works, from site establishment to project completion and everything in between.
Key responsibilities include:
- Complete projects to specification and within allocated timeframes;
- Construct and install structures and fixtures using wood and plywood, including concrete formwork for concrete furniture, retaining walls, letterboxes, benches, bench seats, curb and channel, etc
- Interpreting plans and specifications to understand materials required, dimensions and installation for outdoor hardscapes and open spaces
- Erecting framework for pergolas, decks, gazebos etc
- Cutting wood joints for complex concrete formwork structures
- Provide quality craftmanship;
- Problem solving
Skills and experience
You must have a positive attitude, be well organised and be passionate about quality construction.
Key skills include:
- Be punctual and reliable;
- Strong time management;
- Current driver's licence;
- Ideally hold an AQF Cert 3 in carpentry/construction and/or at least two years working in construction
- Exceptional communication skills.
Concrete/form work to complete high end, highly detailed 3D form concrete structures with preferable experience constructing structures including;
- Skate park furniture
- Open space structures
- 3D concrete seating
- Concrete staircases
- Concrete retaining walls
The right candidate must be able to finish concrete to a high standard, be able to work with form ply, steel fix and welding.
