Summary:
Our client, Mercon Construction Group, is seeking to add a skilled Formwork Carpenter to their dynamic team. Founded in 2004, Mercon has grown into a leading construction company, known for innovative solutions and exceeding client expectations.
The typical job responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following:
- Constructing and maintaining formwork for poured concrete structures. Made from wood, metal or plywood, experience measuring and cutting diverse materials is important.
- A strong understanding of construction principles to create the perfect forms for bridges, foundations, beams and staircases.
- Familiarity reading plans and attention to detail is a must.
- Highly proficient in erecting and dismantling formwork systems whilst checking for accuracy.
- Dismantling casts without damaging them, so that they can be used again.
- Measuring, cutting and shaping wood or metal.
- Working closely with your team to pour concrete into moulds.
- Collaborate with other trades on the construction site.
- Producing concrete blocks of exactly the right shape and size for whatever needs building.
- Experience with steel fixing and concreting would be advantageous.
- Complete tasks within the project timeline and budget.
Applicants must meet the following minimum requirements to be considered for the role:
- Certificate III in Carpentry
- At least three (3) years of proven experience demonstrating a high level of formwork and structural carpentry understanding.
- High level of commitment and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Competency in using and maintaining hand & power tools.
- An understand of Logistics and Supply Chain Management would be advantageous.
- Strong awareness of OH&S and safe work practices.
- Current Drivers license & White Card.
- Since the job is physically demanding, it is important to be physically fit to lift heavy objects and have the stamina to stand or bend for long hours.
- A positive attitude, strong attention to detail, and a solid work ethic.
