We employ 300 staff at our Gillman head office and in our regional depots in Port Augusta, Whyalla, Port Pirie, Kadina, Clare, Berri and Victor Harbor. This network enables us to provide next-day express freight services to all South Australia (Metro and Regional), Broken Hill and Mildura.
We currently have a position available for a casual Freight Handler at our Gillman depot to work our AM shift 5 days a week/up to 38 hours total, starting at 3:30am.
This role plays a crucial part in the smooth and efficient operation of our logistics and distribution facility in Gillman.
You will be responsible for the accurate and efficient sorting, organizing, and stacking of cages and pallets of freight in preparation for timely delivery to our customers.
This position requires attention to detail, physical fitness, the ability to use mobile technology, read and process a manifest as well as a strong commitment to safety and teamwork.
About you:
- Reasonably physically fit to be able to manually lift, carry and stack cages and pallets of freight.
- Able to read and process a manifest.
- High risk forklift license desired but not essential.
- Competent in the use of mobile technology.
- Possess a great attention to detail and pride yourself on focusing on accuracy.
- A team player, able to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Able to demonstrate a proactive attitude to safety and comply with all company policies, requirements and reasonable management directions.
- Able to prioritise assigned tasks to meet operational objectives and deadlines.
- Able to communicate effectively with all staff, visitors, and contractors to meet role requirements.
- Possess a sound understanding of South Australian regional geography to be able to identify relevant destination/locations.
