About The Role

As a hands on Engineering Manager in our Web Integrations and Front-End team, you will be leading an autonomous team, owning a large part of our Web SDK offering, with a specific focus on developing scalable frameworks, plugins and massive front-end integrations for our biggest clients, working closely with launch engineering and solutions engineering teams to produce the best platform for the biggest names in ecommerce and advertising.

A deep understanding of how to build and maintain systems at a global scale is key to this role, and the desire to get deep into the architecture now and into the future would be ideal. Having experience working on large scale is ideal, as our front end systems and web integrations serve billions of unique customer experiences every year, a number that is growing considerably year on year.

Leading a team of really great engineers, you'll need solid experience as an Engineering Manager who can develop and lead engineers up to a Staff/Principal level, while still playing a key role in the architecture and day to day code, so a desire to be hands on with React/TypeScript and front end architecture is essential.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the design, implementation and maintenance of massive web integrations
  • Manage and develop a team of autonomous and high performing engineers
  • Cut production level code that can be built upon by your team and the wider Rokt organisation
  • Identifying and proposing improvements to the current system architecture that emphasise reliability and scalability
  • Design, develop, test, deploy and improve code that solves real-world problems
  • Own complex product features end to end - with a focus on customer impact
  • Manage priorities, deadlines and deliverables
  • Operate with autonomy in solving problems
  • Collaborate with other teams to deliver new products
  • Create fast, scalable and easy-to-use applications
  • Build libraries and frameworks that others can use
  • Take responsibility for system health, monitoring and alerting, and CI/CD pipelines
  • Support and mentor other engineers on best practices, architecture, and quality

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 10+ years of experience in commercial software development experience designing, building and operating large scale web integrations and 4+ years of experience in managing engineering teams
  • Polyglot engineer with commercial experience in one of the following: TypeScript, React or Vue. You have written a lot of performant easy-to-maintain code using best practices. You can smell bad code and provide constructive feedback during code review.
  • Strong complex system architecture design experience and understanding; space/time complexity, API contract design and stewardship, AWS cloud-based infrastructure.
  • Learn quickly: demonstrated ability to quickly understand and absorb new information. Passion for technology and eager to dive in to figure out how things work.
  • Problem-solving skills: able to use first principles - using both qualitative and quantitative data - to solve complex problems.
  • Leadership: organise and motivate engineering contributors, work with the product team to schedule in an efficient and productive manner, understand business logic and be able to translate into appropriate technical solutions
  • Excellent communication skills in English - you can explain complex ideas to technical and non-technical audiences both verbally and in writing.

Salary Range - $270,000 - $300,000 AUD per year plus equity and benefits
